Hyderabad Police Commissioner Orders Fire Safety Measures for Ganesh Chaturthi Idols

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar directed idol makers to strictly follow fire‑safety standards for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival. He urged manufacturers to implement proper electrical wiring, keep workshops clean of hazardous chemicals, and limit idol height to 16 feet.

The commissioner announced dedicated entry and exit routes for transporting idols from the manufacturing hubs of Dhoolpet, Jalpally and Mailardevpally, and advised against moving large idols during peak traffic hours. Transporters must obtain advance clearance from local traffic police and share booking details with police officials to facilitate monitoring and law‑and‑order arrangements. Sajjanar recalled that about 23,000 idols were installed in the city last year, during which four accidents occurred in transit, underscoring the need for these precautions.
