Hyderabad Police conduct Operation Kavach enforcement drive
Hyderabad Police conducted a large-scale midnight enforcement drive known as ‘Operation Kavach’ to enhance public safety and law and order. During the operation, which took place between 1 am and 3 am on October 15, approximately 3,000 personnel deployed in 100 teams detained 725 vehicles and took 48 suspects into custody.
Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar personally inspected various checkpoints during the drive. The operation resulted in several legal actions, including cases for minor driving violations, illegal weapon possession, and cannabis-related offenses under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Commissioner Sajjanar also issued warnings against tampering with vehicle registration plates to evade surveillance.
In a specific incident in Attapur during the drive, 20-year-old student Mohammed Fahad Uddin was arrested after driving a Suzuki Fronx dangerously toward on-duty officers. The accused reportedly drove in reverse and at high speeds in the wrong direction to avoid police inspections, causing panic among commuters. He has been remanded to judicial custody following charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
