Hyderabad police detain three for alleged deer hunting in Karnataka
Malakpet police in Hyderabad have detained three individuals suspected of hunting deer in the forests of Karnataka. The arrests occurred during a vehicle check on Monday after police intercepted a suspicious car.
Authorities seized a .30-06 sporting rifle equipped with a night-vision telescope, eight live rounds of ammunition, and 12 used cartridges. Investigators also recovered two night-vision telescopes, mobile phones, and deer meat. Preliminary inquiries suggest the suspects may have used the licensed firearm to fire 12 rounds during the hunt in the Chimmanchod forest area of Kalaburagi district.
Police are currently investigating the potential misuse of the licensed weapon, the circumstances of the wildlife poaching, and whether the suspects attempted to destroy electronic evidence, as a damaged foldable mobile phone found at the scene reportedly contains videos related to the incident.
