Hyderabad Police Dismantle Pan‑India Ganja Syndicate Using Speed Post
The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing has broken up a large drug‑trafficking network that was shipping cannabis parcels across 21 Indian states through the national Speed Post system and private couriers. The operation was traced after investigators intercepted two parcels sent from post offices in Jharkhand to Hyderabad, leading to the arrest of the alleged mastermind, Satyam Mishra, while several accomplices remain at large.
Police say the gang cultivated cannabis in Jharkhand and sourced additional supplies locally, then packaged 50‑250 g consignments that were falsely declared as medicines. Orders were placed via WhatsApp and paid through UPI, with an estimated daily turnover of about Rs 1 lakh and annual proceeds of Rs 4‑5 crore. The network reportedly served thousands of customers in major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, using trains and air cargo to move parcels nationwide. Two Hyderabad buyers were also arrested and 2 kg of ganja seized. The bust has prompted authorities to tighten monitoring of postal and courier channels.
