Hyderabad Police implement strict security for Ganesh Utsav

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar has implemented a zero-tolerance security protocol for the upcoming 11-day Ganesh Utsav celebrations. To ensure peaceful festivities and manage large crowds, the police are introducing several new digital and physical measures.

Organizers of Ganesh pandals are now required to register through the Hyderabad City Police app and must geo-tag their structures. To prevent stampedes, theft, and nuisance in high-traffic areas, officials have instructed pandal managers to install CCTV cameras and queue barricades.

In response to potential communal tensions, a specialized cyber-surveillance mechanism has been activated. The police IT cell will monitor social media platforms 24 hours a day to identify and trace individuals spreading hate speech, rumors, or provocative content.

Following the merger of the Shamshabad and Rajendranagar zones into the Hyderabad City jurisdiction, police will focus on securing immersion routes from Balapur toward Tank Bund. This includes conducting advance route clearances to manage traffic and ensure tall idols do not interfere with overhead power lines. The traffic wing will coordinate with the Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates to minimize city-wide congestion.
