Hyderabad police recover dozens of lost and stolen mobile phones

Police departments in Hyderabad have successfully recovered and returned numerous lost and stolen mobile phones to their owners using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.

Mirchowk Police recovered 25 devices through technical investigations and the CEIR system. Meanwhile, Madhapur Police returned 48 mobile phones, with an estimated total value of Rs 10 lakh. Both departments utilized the unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers to trace the devices to various locations.

The CEIR portal, managed by India’s Department of Telecommunications, allows citizens to report lost or stolen devices to block them and prevent misuse. Authorities advise citizens to report thefts immediately and provide IMEI numbers to facilitate the tracing and recovery process.
