Hyderabad sees rapid growth in real estate and EV adoption

Hyderabad is experiencing significant urban shifts in both its real estate and transportation sectors. In the residential market, the city sold 19,249 homes in the first half of 2026, with West Hyderabad accounting for 63% of sales. Average residential prices rose 7% year-on-year to ₹8,258 per sq. ft. The increasing density of high-rise buildings is placing new demands on engineering, specifically regarding structural stability, ventilation, energy consumption, and water management.

Simultaneously, Hyderabad has become the fastest-growing major metropolis in electric vehicle (EV) usage. According to data from Bolt Earth, the city recorded a 100.6% annualized increase in EV charging sessions during the first 160 days of the 2026-27 period. While two-wheelers accounted for 78.1% of charging sessions, four-wheelers consumed 67.3% of the total energy used. The report highlights a significant trend in energy demand, with peak charging activity occurring in the evening.
