Hyderabad targets global technology leadership through GCC expansion
Hyderabad is positioning itself as a major hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and a “Global Confidence Centre” for international companies. The Telangana government aims to transition the city from a mere service destination to a center where global firms develop solutions for worldwide challenges.
To support this, the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026 is expected to attract significant investment commitments and memoranda of understanding from global firms. Hyderabad has seen rapid growth in the GCC market, accounting for more than 40% of new GCCs added in India over the last three years, particularly within the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sectors.
In a recent development, the Netherlands-based fintech company Backbase inaugurated a 30,000-square-foot development centre in Hitec City. The facility is expected to create 300 skilled jobs and focus on digital banking solutions and software products for global financial institutions. The state government is also prioritizing digital infrastructure and workforce training in fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cybersecurity to meet the needs of expanding global operations.
