Hydra Island hosts ArtCinema Summer Prelude, led by Amanda Palmer

ArtCinema launched its Summer Prelude on the Greek island of Hydra, creating an international laboratory for contemporary art, cinema, music and education ahead of its traditional autumn festival. The programme, founded by Amanda Palmer, includes a new partnership with New York’s Powerhouse Arts, which will run permanent artist‑in‑residence studios. Directed by Eric Shiner, the initiative invited artists Rob Pruitt and Jonathan Horowitz; Horowitz will produce a film about Hydra that will debut at the autumn edition.

On 29 July, Palmer returned to Italy for an interview at the Anfiteatro del Vendaci, reflecting on her work with the Dresden Dolls and her solo career, including the Kickstarter‑funded album "Theatre Is Evil". The interview highlighted her ongoing connection with audiences and the collaborative spirit that defines her projects.
