Hydra to receive new helipad and access road
The Attica Region has approved the construction of a new helipad and access road on the island of Hydra to improve accessibility and emergency services. Attica Governor Nikos Hardalias signed a programmatic agreement with Hydra Mayor George Koukoudakis and the representative of the Monastery of Agios Nikolaos to facilitate the project.
The project has a total budget exceeding 1 million euros plus VAT, with the Attica Region providing up to 829,100 euros in funding to the Municipality of Hydra. The helipad will be located at the ‘Aloni’ site, approximately 5 kilometers from the main settlement of Hydra, covering an area of about 1,800 square meters.
The site is situated within a 160-acre area owned by the Monastery of Agios Nikolaos, which has agreed to grant the land to the Municipality of Hydra for a 30-year period. The facility is intended to enhance safety, health services, and the ability to transport patients or respond to emergencies effectively.
