HYDRAA to build mini pond for Ganesh idol immersion in Hyderabad's Kukatpally

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) announced it will create a mini pond on the main road in Kukatpally to provide temporary immersion facilities for Ganesh idols during the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The decision was disclosed by HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath during an inspection of the IDL Lake restoration work, accompanied by local MLAs Madhavaram Krishna Rao and Arikepudi Gandhi.

The plan includes removing roughly three metres of silt from IDL Lake to boost its water‑storage capacity, strengthening the lake’s outlet system, and developing surrounding green spaces, play areas and other recreational amenities. Ranganath assured that temporary immersion facilities will be ready this year, with permanent infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of idols slated for completion by next year. The HYDRAA team also inspected Thammidikunta Lake, directing officials to expedite remaining works and prepare the lake for inauguration.
