Hydrogen Grand Prix to host technical students in Chile
The Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP) will take place at Metropolitan Santiago from September 1 to 3 as part of the Hyvolution Chile fair. This international competition brings together technical high school students from across Chile to design, build, and race radio-controlled vehicles powered exclusively by green hydrogen fuel cells.
Based on the STEAM educational methodology—integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics—the competition aims to connect future education with the development of the regional energy ecosystem. The initiative is organized globally by Horizon Educational and has a presence in more than 20 countries, with a grand final held in California.
In Chile, the event is executed by the Corporación Educacional SOFOFA with support from the Ministry of Energy, H2 Chile, and Colbún. Participants are evaluated not only on speed but also on fuel efficiency, pit strategy, and mechanical problem-solving. The event begins with technical inspections and accreditation before moving to track racing.
