Hydrogen technology advancements to be showcased at Expo 2026
TÜV SÜD and Fraunhofer ILT are set to showcase advancements in hydrogen technology at the Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe 2026 in Hamburg, Germany.
TÜV SÜD will highlight its expanded testing and certification capabilities, specifically focusing on its new hydrogen testing laboratory in Garching. The facility is capable of performing pressure cycles of at least 150 MPa and testing across a temperature range of -40°C to +180°C. These services aim to support manufacturers in evaluating material compatibility, durability, and safety for hydrogen applications, including the use of its H2 Readiness certification.
Fraunhofer ILT will present laser technology applications designed for the entire hydrogen value chain. Their research covers manufacturing processes for electrolysis, fuel cells, Power-to-X, and secure hydrogen storage. Additionally, through the European HyCavern project, the institute is developing laser-based protective coatings and joining processes to improve the resistance of steel linings against hydrogen-induced degradation.
