Hygiene Guide: Essential Household Items to Replace Regularly
Common household and bathroom items require regular replacement to maintain hygiene and prevent the buildup of bacteria, allergens, and microorganisms.
In the bathroom, toothbrushes should be replaced every three to four months, as worn bristles become less effective at removing plaque. Natural loofahs and bath sponges may need replacement as frequently as every three to four weeks due to their tendency to harbor microorganisms in damp conditions.
Other household essentials also require attention. Plastic ice trays should be replaced if they become cracked, heavily scratched, or discolored, as these imperfections can collect residue. Reusable water bottles should be inspected for persistent odors, mold, or damaged seals, which indicate they are no longer sanitary. Additionally, bath towels can accumulate skin cells and moisture over time, necessitating regular replacement to ensure freshness.
