Hyori-Soo: Girls’ Generation members debut new sub-unit

Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung, members of the K-pop group Girls’ Generation, have officially debuted as a new sub-unit named ‘Hyori-Soo’ (Girls’ Generation-HRS). The trio released their first digital single, ‘Skibidi’, on August 31. The track features a blend of House and Hip-hop with Arabic string samples, centered on the theme of ‘paving a new path’.

The unit also includes the track ‘Lowkey In Love’, a retro-style Dance Pop song characterized by upbeat brass sounds and a rhythmic groove. The formation of the group originated from a project on Hyoyeon’s personal YouTube channel, where the members engaged in a humorous, mock-competitive struggle for center and main vocal positions.

Despite facing some criticism regarding their appeal to older fanbases, the group has demonstrated significant interest. Pre-release performance footage from the 2026 CAS Cool Festival garnered over 800,000 views within four days, highlighting the group's continued relevance twenty years after their original debut.
