HYPE token drops 7% to $62, testing support amid growing institutional interest
The HYPE cryptocurrency fell 7% on July 16, sliding to $62 and reaching the 0.382 Fibonacci support level. Technical analysis notes that a daily close below $62 could open the next major support near $57.5, with further levels at $53 if the decline continues. HyperLend’s Q2 2026 report shows that about 83% of its deposited assets are tied to HYPE‑related tokens, highlighting concentration risk if the price falls further.
Despite the price weakness, institutional sentiment remains positive. Franklin Templeton’s crypto chief investment officer Seth Ginns said the sector’s fundamentals are strong and that institutional adoption is accelerating. HYPE’s buy‑back model, which allocates roughly 7% of market cap annually to token purchases, provides a price floor, and the token was recently added to Bitwise’s BITW index fund. The Pepeto presale has raised $10.4 million and is preparing for a Binance listing, which could boost liquidity and trading activity.
