Hyperion Renewables and Repsol sign 10‑year hybrid solar‑wind PPA in Alentejo

Hyperion Renewables and Spanish energy group Repsol have signed a ten‑year hybrid Power Purchase Agreement for renewable electricity produced in Portugal’s Alentejo region. The deal covers a 52 MW photovoltaic plant at Cavaleira, Estremoz (Évora district) and a 31.5 MW on‑shore wind farm at Nortada, Sousel (Portalegre district), together with battery storage at a single grid connection point.

The combined assets are expected to deliver roughly 140 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power about 40 000 homes and avoid more than 23 000 tonnes of CO₂ each year. Construction of the wind farm is slated for completion in 2027, with electricity deliveries to begin in 2028 and continue for a decade. Investment in the two projects totals about €78.6 million, split between €35 million for the solar plant and €43.6 million for the wind farm. Hyperion’s CEO Aytea Alvarez Amandi highlighted the hybrid approach as a way to increase resource efficiency, production complementarity and grid stability, supporting Europe’s accelerated carbon‑neutrality goals.
