Hyperkin opens pre-orders for new SupaBoy retro consoles

Hyperkin has opened pre-orders for two new versions of its SupaBoy Portable Retro Gaming Console: the limited-edition SupaBoy Crimson and the SupaBoy Prime. Both models feature premium translucent casings and are scheduled for release in the US and Europe on October 28, 2026.

The SupaBoy is designed for authentic 16-bit gaming using physical media, featuring a built-in cartridge slot compatible with original Super Nintendo and Super Famicom cartridges across PAL, NTSC, and Japanese regions. The device does not rely on emulation, ROMs, or firmware updates.

Technical specifications include a 4.3-inch IPS display, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery providing up to 10 hours of gameplay, and an integrated AV output for television connection. The console also includes two front-facing controller ports for local multiplayer. The SupaBoy Crimson is inspired by the original Japanese Famicom, while the SupaBoy Prime utilizes a color palette echoing the Japanese and European Super Famicom. The suggested retail price is set at $129.99 / €129.99 / £119.99.
