Hyperliquid sees trading growth amid HYPE token volatility
Hyperliquid, a decentralized exchange platform, is experiencing significant growth and volatility regarding its HYPE token. The platform has reached over 263,000 active perpetual traders, capturing approximately 69% of on-chain perpetual daily active users.
Financial performance for the platform shows a complex picture. While Hyperliquid reported $169 million in Q2 revenue and directed $141 million toward HYPE buybacks, total protocol revenue has seen a quarterly decline of approximately 43% from its peak. This decline is attributed to a mechanism allowing users to stake HYPE to build custom markets, which redirects a portion of trading fees away from the main protocol.
The HYPE token has faced recent price pressure, trading around $54–$56 after falling from a June high near $76. This downward trend is compounded by the unlocking of $23 million worth of HYPE tokens from HyperLabs and recent outflows from HYPE-focused ETFs, which totaled $30.6 million over a three-week period. However, recent data suggests a potential reversal in ETF trends, with a net inflow of $2.84 million recorded in the week ending August 7. Analysts are monitoring the $51–$53 support level to determine if the token can initiate a new upward trend.
