Hyperliquid in talks with Payward to enter U.S. market

Hyperliquid Labs is in advanced negotiations with Payward, the parent company of Kraken, to facilitate its entry into the United States market. The proposed arrangement aims to provide American traders with access to selected crypto-linked perpetual futures through Bitnomial, a regulated subsidiary of Payward that holds licenses for exchange, clearing, and brokerage services.

Payward has reportedly submitted a formal proposal outlining this structure to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). While the plan seeks to provide a regulated pathway for Hyperliquid’s decentralized infrastructure, the process may take between 10 and 12 months to receive final regulatory approval. The discussions follow indications from Donald Trump that his administration would support bringing the platform to the U.S. in a compliant manner.

Hyperliquid currently restricts U.S. users from its main interface due to its decentralized, permissionless design, which regulators often view as a risk for market manipulation. The platform currently processes over $4 billion in daily trading volume. In related developments, Hyperliquid’s native token, HYPE, has seen increased market activity, including its addition to the Hashdex Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF.
