Hyperscalers Convergence Africa 2026 sets digital infrastructure agenda

The third edition of Hyperscalers Convergence Africa (HCA) 2026, themed ‘Africa’s Great Digital Buildout’, has concluded with a strategic action agenda aimed at accelerating the continent's digital infrastructure development.

Policymakers, investors, and technology leaders emphasized the necessity of transitioning from isolated infrastructure projects toward coordinated, cross-border digital systems. While capacity is expanding through new subsea cables, data centres, and fibre networks, experts noted that economic impact will remain constrained without reliable power, harmonized regulations, and affordable connectivity.

The conference identified several key priorities, including creating incentives for internet service providers to peer across borders to reduce routing costs, aligning regulatory processes and technical standards across markets, and securing funding for early-stage project preparation to make infrastructure investment-ready.
