Hyperscalers are massive technology companies that operate global computing infrastructures, including vast networks of data centers, hundreds of thousands of servers, and highly automated systems. While the term ‘cloud’ refers to the services used to host applications and store data, ‘hyperscaler’ describes the immense scale and infrastructure model supporting those services.

Major global players include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, which together accounted for 63% of the global cloud market in the second quarter of 2026, according to Forbes. Other companies like Oracle Cloud, Meta, Apple, Alibaba, and Huawei also operate hyperscale infrastructures, though not all offer them as public cloud services.

These entities are critical to the advancement of artificial intelligence. The training and execution of large-scale AI models require massive amounts of processing power, high-speed networking, specialized chips, and vast storage capacities—capabilities that hyperscalers provide through their dynamic and distributed resources.
