Hypersonic music festival cancels 2026 Australian events

Organisers of the Hypersonic dance music festival have announced the cancellation of its 2026 events in Melbourne and Sydney, just three weeks before they were scheduled to take place. The Melbourne event was set for November 20 at the Melbourne Showgrounds, followed by the Sydney event on November 21 at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

The cancellation follows a scheduling change that moved the Melbourne event to a Friday. Organisers stated that this shift undermined the viability of the all-day festival format, making it impossible to deliver the event to the required standard.

Ticket holders are being offered two options: a full automatic refund, which will be processed within 21 days, or the ability to transfer their tickets to the Dreamstate 2027 festival at no additional charge. The festival lineup was set to include Armin van Buuren, Cyril, Timmy Trumpet, Sunset Bros, and Bassjackers.
