HyperX unveils Cloud Alpha Air open-back gaming headset
HyperX, a brand owned by HP, has unveiled its first open-back gaming headset, the Cloud Alpha Air, during its ‘Level Awakening’ showcase. The wired headset is designed to provide a wider, more natural soundstage and improved spatial awareness compared to traditional closed-back models.
To address the common issue of weak bass performance in open-back designs, the Cloud Alpha Air features a proprietary ‘Bass Tube’ system. This component routes air through the 40mm dynamic drivers to maintain low-end frequencies. The headset is priced at approximately $150 and includes various connectivity options such as 3.5mm, USB-A, and USB-C adapters.
In addition to the new headset, HyperX announced several other products, including the lightweight Pulsefire Haste 3 Pro mouse and the SoloCast 2 Pro microphone. Most of these new peripherals are expected to be available starting in September 2026.
