Høyre rejects proposal for temporary fuel tax cuts

The Conservative Party (Høyre) has announced it will not support a proposal from the Progress Party (Frp), the Centre Party (Sp), and the Christian Democratic Party (KrF) to temporarily cut fuel taxes until the end of the year.

Ine Eriksen Søreide, leader of Høyre, criticized the proposed temporary measures as ‘unstable economic management.’ She argued that permanent tax reductions would be a superior solution, providing more predictability for both citizens and businesses. Søreide also accused the Centre Party of attempting to avoid responsibility for the national budget by supporting red-green coalitions while simultaneously pushing for tax cuts.
