Hyresgästföreningen advises tenants on indoor temperature rights

The Swedish Tenants' Association (Hyresgästföreningen) is advising renters on their rights regarding indoor temperatures as autumn weather arrives. The association states that indoor temperatures should not fall below 20 degrees Celsius under normal weather conditions.

If temperatures remain below this threshold for an extended period, landlords are expected to take corrective action. The association notes that tenants should look beyond simple thermometer readings, as drafts from windows, doors, or cold floors and walls can significantly impact the perceived living environment. Tenants are encouraged to document temperature readings in multiple rooms at different times to support claims for repairs.
