Hyrox and Xenom partner to expand global fitness competition
Global indoor fitness race company Hyrox has announced a strategic partnership with Xenom, a CrossFit-inspired platform, to expand participation in mass-participation fitness events. The collaboration aims to grow the sport's reach, with executives expressing long-term ambitions for fitness to become the ‘largest sport on earth’ and potentially achieve Olympic recognition.
Hyrox, founded in Hamburg in 2017, utilizes a standardized format consisting of eight functional workout stations interspersed with 8 kilometers of running. Xenom follows a similar model with ten fixed standardized events. The partnership involves cooperation in marketing, events, and education, with Hyrox founders Moritz Fuerste and Christian Toetzke investing in Xenom.
The inaugural HYROX event in Tampa, Florida, recently drew nearly 18,700 athletes and an estimated 18,000 spectators to the Tampa Convention Center. Hyrox leadership has projected participation reaching approximately 2.5 million participants for the 2027 calendar year.
