Hyundai and Audi launch new EV models for China

Major automotive manufacturers are launching specialized electric vehicle (EV) models tailored specifically for the Chinese market.

Hyundai has revealed technical specifications for the Ioniq V, a sedan designed exclusively for China. Utilizing the E-GMP platform, the vehicle will offer both pure electric (EV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrains. The model features 800V fast-charging capabilities, a 27-inch 4K screen, and AI integration via Qualcomm and Baidu technologies. Hyundai plans to introduce 20 new models in China over the next five years.

Simultaneously, Audi is preparing to debut its first model under the new “AUDI” brand at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Developed through a joint venture with SAIC, these vehicles are designed “in China for China” to target younger consumers. The new brand will omit the traditional four-ring logo to distinguish itself from Audi’s global lineup. The first model, based on the 2024 AUDI E concept, utilizes a new 800V architecture and is expected to enter production by the end of the year.
