Hyundai reveals fifth-generation Tucson with radical redesign

Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the fifth generation of its Tucson SUV, marking a significant design shift toward a more rugged and boxy aesthetic. Following the brand’s ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy, the new model moves away from the previous generation’s rounded shapes in favor of sharper, more geometric lines and an upright silhouette.

The 2027 Tucson has grown in all dimensions, measuring 4,700 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. These increases are intended to maximize interior space, providing 29 mm of additional headroom for rear passengers. Additionally, the rear door opening angle has been increased to 83 degrees to improve accessibility.

Inside, the cabin features a complete redesign centered around the new Pleos infotainment system. The dashboard includes a large central touchscreen and a slim digital instrument cluster positioned high near the windshield. Hyundai has also opted to retain physical controls for several essential functions. A specialized XRT trim, designed for an outdoor-focused lifestyle, will also be available, featuring unique bumpers and protective elements.
