Hyundai and KOICA launch automotive training project in Ghana

Hyundai Motor Company and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) have launched the ‘Hyundai-KOICA NextGen’ project in Accra, Ghana. This five-year initiative, running from 2026 to 2030, aims to enhance automotive vocational training and support youth employment in West Africa.

Co-funded by Hyundai and KOICA with a total budget of 5 billion Korean won (approximately $3.84 million), the project involves the construction of two automotive repair technical education and training centers. Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with the facilities slated to be operational by 2027.

The curriculum will be updated to include maintenance technologies for hybrid and electric vehicles alongside traditional internal combustion engine training. In partnership with Plan International Korea and Plan International Ghana, the program will provide scholarships, internships, and job placement assistance. The project intends to establish standardized professional training for the region and may be expanded to other countries following its implementation in Ghana.
