Hyundai and POSCO to build $5.8 billion steel plant in Louisiana
Hyundai and POSCO are partnering to construct a $5.8 billion steel manufacturing plant in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. The facility, named Hyundai-POSCO Louisiana Steel, is planned for the RiverPlex MegaPark near Donaldsonville along the Mississippi River.
This project marks Hyundai's first steel-production facility in North America. The plant will primarily manufacture steel products for the automotive industry. The development is expected to create more than 1,300 direct jobs with an average annual salary of approximately $95,000. Additionally, the project is projected to generate roughly 4,100 more jobs through contractors, suppliers, and other related businesses.
