Hyundai Motor Group to invest $15.5 billion in India through 2032

Hyundai Motor Group has announced a major $15.5 billion investment plan in India scheduled between 2026 and 2032. The initiative, discussed during a meeting between Executive Chair Euisun Chung and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, aims to transform India into a global manufacturing and export hub for the group.

The investment will focus on expanding production capacity at Hyundai and Kia facilities, strengthening research and development (R&D) infrastructure, and cultivating local supply chains. To manage this large-scale capital allocation, the group will establish a dedicated investment entity in India to coordinate R&D, future technologies, and ecosystem development.

Key components of the strategy include: - Expanding the Pune plant's capacity to 320,000 units by 2030. - Allocating approximately $700 million to an Indian R&D center, including a vehicle testing track. - Introducing 26 new models and updates by 2030, with a focus on electric vehicles and hybrids. - Achieving a 90% localization rate for parts by 2030.

Hyundai Motor Group currently employs over 24,000 people in India and maintains an annual production capacity exceeding 1.4 million vehicles. The group also plans to commercialize an electric three-wheeler, developed in collaboration with TVS Motor Company, by late 2027.
