Hyundai Construction Deploys X‑ble Shoulder Wearable Robot on Seoul Site
Hyundai Construction introduced the industrial wearable robot X‑ble Shoulder, developed by Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Robotics Lab, at the DH Castle interior‑carpentry project in Seocho‑gu, Seoul. The exoskeleton assists workers’ upper‑arm muscles, reducing shoulder‑joint load by up to 60% and deltoid activation by up to 30% through a passive, motor‑free torque‑generation mechanism, eliminating the need for charging.
The company plans to expand the technology to ceiling‑equipment installation, painting and drywall work, noting that the robot allows arm movement from 0° to 180° while keeping the workflow unchanged. Workers reported noticeably less effort while using the device. Hyundai’s joint R&D unit, the HMG Construction Technology Research Institute, continues to develop AI‑driven robotics for broader smart‑construction applications.
