Hyundai E&C partners with Korea Transportation Safety Authority on residential mobility safety

Hyundai Engineering & Construction has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority to develop safety technologies and design standards for future mobility within residential apartment complexes.

As delivery robots, personal mobility devices, and Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) become more common in housing complexes, the partnership aims to ensure pedestrian safety and optimize traffic environments. The collaboration will focus on joint research to improve mobility safety, identify necessary traffic safety improvements, and examine road environment enhancements using Software Defined Road (SDR) technology.

The research will analyze road and pedestrian flow patterns, pick-up/drop-off areas, and operating methods for various mobility types. Hyundai E&C plans to use data from these studies and field demonstrations to establish design and operational standards that can be integrated into future smart city mobility infrastructure.
