Hyundai Engineering & Construction develops precast concrete wall technology
Hyundai Engineering & Construction has successfully developed a precast concrete (PC) wall system, known as H-PCW, which expands the application of PC methods to the core sections of apartment buildings, such as elevator shafts and stairwells. This technology has received certification for standard compliance from the Architectural Institute of Korea’s Architectural Certification Center.
Developed in collaboration with Sampyo P&C and Camu E&C, the H-PCW system utilizes H-Link connection technology, which employs ring-shaped U-hook reinforcement bars. This method improves construction convenience and enhances structural performance and seismic resistance during the vertical connection of PC walls. The company is currently in the process of applying for a patent for this technology.
By proving the structural safety of core areas, Hyundai Engineering & Construction aims to increase the feasibility of ‘all-PC’ construction. This move is expected to accelerate the adoption of Off-Site Construction (OSC), which offers benefits such as improved quality, increased productivity, enhanced safety, and reduced environmental impact.
