Hyundai hybrid models feature 12V battery reset button
Hyundai has implemented a specialized system in hybrid versions of the Kona and Tucson models to address 12V battery depletion. Instead of traditional methods like using jumper cables or a booster, these vehicles utilize a '12V Battery Reset Switch' to restore power.
In these hybrid models, the traditional lead-acid battery is replaced by a lithium-ion accumulator integrated into the hybrid system. To prevent complete discharge, the system automatically disconnects the 12V battery from electrical loads when charge levels drop below a specific threshold.
To restart the vehicle, drivers must use the mechanical emergency key if the smart key fails to unlock the doors. Once inside, the driver must press the '12V BATT RESET' button located to the left of the steering wheel and start the vehicle within 30 seconds. After the 'READY' indicator appears on the dashboard, it is recommended to keep the vehicle in READY mode for 30 minutes to ensure the system is operational.
