Hyundai i20 gains market traction in Brazil
Hyundai has launched the i20 in Brazil, a compact hatch manufactured in Piracicaba. Since sales began in July, the model has reached 6,386 units sold, surpassing the Peugeot 208's year-to-date sales of 3,831 units.
The top-tier Ultimate version is priced at approximately R$ 139,990 and features a 1.0 turbo flex engine with an automatic transmission. This trim includes advanced technology such as a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot alerts.
Industry analysts suggest the i20 represents a strategic shift for Hyundai in the Brazilian market. It is expected to eventually replace the HB20 and serve as the mechanical foundation for future models, including the next generation of the Creta and a new subcompact SUV.
