Hyundai inaugurates new manufacturing plant in Pune, India

Hyundai Motor India has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Pune, marking a strategic expansion of its operations in India. The company plans to invest up to ₹11,000 crore in the site through multiple phases.

The plant currently has an annual production capacity of 170,000 vehicles, which is projected to increase to 320,000 units by 2030. A primary focus of the facility will be the production of the new Hyundai Venue, which is intended for export to more than 35 countries. The plant is designed with flexible production systems capable of manufacturing both internal combustion engine vehicles and future hybrid models.

Integrating Industry 4.0 principles, the facility utilizes artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and advanced quality control technologies, including predictive maintenance and augmented reality for staff training. The site also includes a dedicated engine division with a capacity of 150,000 units per year. This expansion coincides with Hyundai’s 30th anniversary in India and its milestone of reaching 4 million cumulative passenger vehicle exports from the country.
