Hyundai sales supervisor apologizes after viral Ioniq 5 dispute
A viral dispute involving Indonesian content creator Aa Juju and a Hyundai dealership has sparked discussions regarding electric vehicle (EV) technical knowledge and aftersales service. Aa Juju reported several technical issues with his cash-purchased Hyundai Ioniq 5, including failures in fast charging, battery depletion, and difficulties with parallel parking.
A central point of contention was the misinformation provided by sales staff regarding the vehicle's ability to be placed in neutral for parallel parking. This led to a public confrontation with Widay Markus, a sales supervisor at PT Gowa Modern Motor (Hyundai Gowa Fatmawati), who was criticized for a defensive response to the consumer's complaints.
Widay Markus has since issued a public apology, acknowledging that the service provided did not meet professional standards and expressing readiness to accept company consequences. Public relations practitioners have noted that the incident highlights the critical need for sales staff to possess deep product knowledge as automotive technology rapidly evolves.
