Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 lease comparison

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 has become the most popular electric vehicle in the United States after Tesla, ranking third in sales through September behind the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. It currently outsells competitors such as the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Toyota bZ.

Following the expiration of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit last September, Hyundai reduced prices on certain IONIQ 5 trims by nearly $10,000. The 2027 IONIQ 5 SE with standard range starts at $35,250, while the extended-range SE RWD starts at $37,750.

Lease comparisons suggest the larger three-row IONIQ 9 may offer better value. While the IONIQ 5 SE can be leased for $359 a month on a 24-month term (effective $567 per month), the IONIQ 9 is available for $419 a month on a 36-month term, resulting in an effective cost of $557 per month.
