Hyundai IONIQ 5 named Auto Express Used Car of the Year

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 has become the first electric vehicle to be named the overall Used Car of the Year at the 2026 Auto Express Used Car Awards. In addition to the top honor, the IONIQ 5 was awarded Best Used Electric Car.

Hyundai was the most successful manufacturer at the event, as the Hyundai TUCSON also secured a title for Best Used Mid-Size SUV. Judges evaluated the winners based on original ratings, real-world owner feedback from the Auto Express Driver Power survey, and the stability of their used market values.

The IONIQ 5 was noted for its concept car-inspired design, spacious cabin, and advanced technology. Its 800V architecture allows for a 10 to 80 per cent charge in under 20 minutes, with range capabilities exceeding 200 miles on all versions and over 300 miles on later models.
