Hyundai launches crossover‑styled i20 generation in Brazil

Hyundai unveiled the next‑generation i20 in Brazil, turning the traditionally subcompact hatchback into a small crossover. The Brazilian version, built at the Piracicaba plant, features plastic body cladding, a lowered roof line, full‑width LED daytime running lights and a digital cockpit with two 12.3‑inch screens. It is offered with internal‑combustion powertrains only: a 1.0‑litre three‑cylinder engine producing 79 hp and a turbocharged 1.0‑litre unit delivering 113 hp, both available with manual or automatic gearboxes. Prices start at 99,990 reais for the base model and rise to 139,990 reais for the top‑trim turbo version.

For Europe and Turkey, Hyundai will use the same body architecture but equip the i20 with mild‑hybrid systems to meet emission standards, a revised suspension, and an N Line hot‑hatch version with a more powerful hybrid setup. European sales are expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 or early 2027, with production at Hyundai’s Turkish plant.
