Hyundai Motor and Kia host 2026 R&D Supplier Tech Day

Hyundai Motor and Kia held their ‘2026 R&D Supplier Tech Day’ in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, to strengthen competitiveness in future mobility through research and development cooperation with suppliers.

The event featured 42 new technologies developed by 37 partner companies. Awards were presented across four categories: chassis, body, electronics, and electrification/batteries. Daedong Door received the grand prize in the electronics category for its ‘Soft Opening Latch.’ This technology utilizes a ‘cinching gear’ to reduce noise by approximately 18% during latch release and improves tailgate stability.

Other award winners included Donghee Industry for an RVM camera ultrasonic cleaning module, Kyungchang Industry for an error-sensing accelerator pedal, Hwashin for a front lower arm with localized heat treatment, and Clarios Delco for next-generation battery technology ‘hAGM.’

Hyundai and Kia will make videos of the 42 showcased technologies available online until November 30 for employees and, where security permits, general customers.
