Hyundai Motor and Kia launch AI training center for suppliers

Hyundai Motor and Kia have launched an ‘AI Specialized Joint Training Center’ at the Hyundai Motor Group Global Win-Win Cooperation Center (GPC) in Gyeongju, South Korea. The initiative is designed to support small and medium-sized component suppliers in their transition toward Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (AX).

The center provides customized, field-oriented AI training focusing on quality control, manufacturing processes, and data utilization. This aims to help suppliers traditionally focused on internal combustion engines transition into high-value-added manufacturers for future mobility, such as electric vehicles and software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

Key training programs include generative AI for automating documentation, AI vision inspection for defect detection, and quality risk management through big data analysis. The curriculum utilizes Project-Based Learning (PBL), allowing employees to use actual factory data to develop AI models that solve real-world production issues.

Hyundai and Kia plan to train approximately 900 employees from first- and second-tier suppliers this year, with plans to expand the scope of training and participants starting next year. The goal is to foster a collaborative AI ecosystem that enhances the global competitiveness of the entire supply chain.
