Hyundai Motor and Kia launch in-car app development contest
Hyundai Motor and Kia have announced a competition to discover innovative in-car applications, targeting university students, developers, and startups. The contest aims to expand mobility experiences by utilizing vehicle data to create diverse services.
Participants can compete in categories including in-car entertainment, mobility life care, safe driving, and family or passenger care. Developers will use the ‘Pleos Playground’ platform, which provides software development kits (SDK) and application programming interfaces (API) specifically designed for Hyundai Motor Group vehicles.
Applications are open from October 21 to November 15 via the official contest website. Individuals or teams of up to five members may apply. Following a document review in November and an app demonstration evaluation in December, ten teams will be selected to receive a total of 51 million won in prize money. The companies intend to review the possibility of launching winning ideas as actual mass-produced services.
