Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation forms ASEAN leadership alliance

The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation has established a multilateral partnership with ten major universities, research institutes, and international organizations to foster next-generation ASEAN leaders. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Asia Research Institute.

Participating institutions include NUS Asia Research Institute, Korea University Institute of Asian Studies, the ASEAN Foundation, the Institute of ASEAN-East Asian Studies, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Indonesia, the Southeast Asian Studies Foundation, Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Political Science, the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Institute, and Kyoto University's Center for Southeast Asian Studies.

The partnership aims to strengthen the CMK ASEAN School, which launched in 2023. Planned initiatives include developing educational programs, expanding global internship opportunities at major local institutions, conducting joint research with think tanks, and hosting Korea-ASEAN international forums. The goal is to cultivate experts with both theoretical knowledge and practical field experience to drive political, economic, and cultural cooperation between Korea and the ASEAN region.
