Hyundai Motor donates wearable robots to Korea Heritage Service

Hyundai Motor Company has donated 10 units of its ‘exble shoulder’ industrial wearable robots to the Korea Heritage Service to support the National Heritage Care Project. The donation ceremony took place in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, involving officials from both organizations.

Developed by the Hyundai-Kia Robotics Lab, the ‘exble shoulder’ is a non-powered wearable robot designed to assist shoulder strength. It weighs approximately 1.9kg and can reduce the load on shoulder joints by up to 60%. Because it is non-powered, it does not require battery charging and can be used continuously. The robots utilize lightweight, high-strength materials typically used in vehicle manufacturing to minimize user fatigue during long periods of use.

The donated robots will be distributed to regional cultural heritage care centers in Gyeonggi, Chungbuk, Northern Gyeongbuk, and Western Gwangju/Jeonnam. These centers are responsible for the periodic monitoring and minor repair of cultural heritage sites to maintain their original state. Hyundai Motor Company plans to provide user training and collect feedback to improve future iterations of its wearable robot technology as part of its ‘Hyundai Continue’ CSV initiative.
