Hyundai Motor reports Q3 profit rise despite lower sales

Hyundai Motor reported a 5.5% increase in third-quarter operating profit, reaching 2.68 trillion KRW, despite a 3.4% decline in revenue to 45.11 trillion KRW. The company’s profitability was bolstered by favorable exchange rates, cost-cutting measures, and an increase in high-value hybrid vehicle sales, which accounted for 18.2% of global sales.

Global wholesale sales fell 11.3% year-on-year to 920,710 units, impacted by production disruptions from domestic labor strikes and reduced working days during the Chuseok holiday. In response to these uncertainties and rising raw material costs, Hyundai has lowered its 2026 annual vehicle sales target from 4.16 million to 4 million units and reduced its operating profit margin guidance to a range of 5.5%–6.5%.

On the brand front, Hyundai rose to 29th in Interbrand’s 2026 Best Global Brands list, with its brand value reaching $25 billion. This marks the 17th consecutive year of brand value growth and moves the company to 4th place in the automotive brand category.
