Hyundai Motor finds owner of truck with viral farewell letter
Hyundai Motor Company has located the owner of a Hyundai Porter truck that gained viral attention after a heartfelt handwritten farewell letter was discovered in the vehicle. The owner, 79-year-old Choi Young-du, had used the truck for 29 years, covering approximately 448,000 kilometers without a single accident.
In his letter, Choi described the vehicle as more than just a car, calling it a “life companion, friend, and family” that helped him support and educate his two children through economic hardships like the IMF crisis. He maintained the vehicle through diligent care, including frequent oil changes, to honor a promise to never abandon it.
Despite the truck's longevity, Choi decided to retire the vehicle due to aging metal and the unavailability of certain replacement parts. After the letter went viral on social media, Hyundai Motor Company used its official Instagram account to track down Mr. Choi to acknowledge his long-standing loyalty to the brand.
