Hyundai Motor Group applies Nano Cooling Film to police buses

Hyundai Motor Group has applied its proprietary ‘Nano Cooling Film’ to two police buses operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The technology is designed to improve working conditions for mobile police units that use these vehicles as temporary offices and resting spaces during heatwaves.

Unlike standard tinting, this three-layer film reflects near-infrared rays and radiates mid-infrared rays out of the vehicle. In testing, vehicles equipped with the film maintained interior temperatures 2 to 3 degrees Celsius lower than untreated vehicles, with driver seats seeing reductions of up to 7 degrees Celsius.

Hyundai Motor Group plans to monitor the film’s performance and quality for one year before considering mass production. The company expects the technology to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by decreasing the reliance on air conditioning.
